- Easy Plate YM-R is a ready-to-use culture medium plate developed by Kikkoman Biochemifa (Japan), specifically designed for the detection and enumeration of yeasts and molds in food, beverages, and related products. This is a sterile dry medium plate that requires no complex preparation steps, helping laboratories save time and improve microbiological testing efficiency.

- Using Easy Plate as a food microbiology testing tool—with a volume of only about 1/20 of a conventional petri dish—saves space and allows you to perform more tests with your current incubator capacity. Easy Plate is pre-packaged, and once the package is opened, you can simply apply the sample suspension onto the medium and start incubation.

- The plate is designed in a dry medium sheet format, pre-prepared and ready-to-use without the need for media preparation or sterilization.

3. Principle

Easy Plate YM-R contains a selective medium for yeast and mold along with a color indicator. When the sample is inoculated and incubated under appropriate conditions, yeast and mold colonies will grow and appear with distinctive morphology, making it easy to observe and count colonies with the naked eye. Colonies appear purple, allowing simple detection and enumeration. If colony colors are unclear, incubate up to 72 hours.

- On Easy Plate YM-R, yeast colonies appear as small, round purple colonies with well-defined edges.

- Mold colonies spread out and form purple colonies with diffused edges.
