Compact Dry Total Viable Count | Compact Dry TC | Shimadzu
1. Intended use
Usage of Compact Dry TC Total Viable Count is a simple and safe test procedure for the determination and quantification of aerobic mesophilic count in foods, cosmetics or raw materials – as well as pharmaceutical raw materials. The ready-to-use plates consist of a special 50 mm diameter petri dish containing a detection-specific nutrient pad.
2. General Information
- The “aerobic mesophilic count” indicates the number of colony-forming units (cfu) formed on a plate count medium during a specified incubation time at mesophilic temperatures (approx. 30 – 37 °C). The aerobic count is an indicator of the microbial status of the production and environmental conditions.
- Compact Dry TC Total Viable Count contains a standard nutrient medium for the detection of total plate count. Due to the tetrazolium salt which is integrated into the medium and serves as a redox indicator die, the grown colonies will be red colored and therefore easily to identify and differentiable from possible food residues on the plate.
- The ready-to-use, chromogenic Compact Dry plates are suitable for in-process controls as well as controls of finished products. With the optional additional product Promedia ST-25 swab test (Z0302) Compact Dry plates may also be used for surface sampling and therefore applied for quantitative hygiene monitoring even at surfaces that are difficult to reach.
3. Benefits
- The ready-to-use Compact Dry TC Total Viable Count plate is a dehydrated standard nutrient medium plate for Total Viable bacterial Count in food and water.
- Bacterial colonies are colored red due to the triphenyl tetrazolium chloride redox indicator. Colonies are easy to identify and differentiate from possible food residues.
