TGC broth Medium without indicator 05629 microbiological medium

- TGC Broth is an improved medium for clinical use, capable of culturing a wide range of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria.

- TGC Broth is also used for blood culture.

1. Preparation

- Add 30 g of the dry medium to 1 L of distilled water, mix well and heat to dissolve.

- Distribute about 18 mL per tube. Sterilise by autoclaving at 121 °C for 15 minutes and cool immediately before use. If the TGC Broth is stored, reheat it in boiling water to remove dissolved gas, then cool it rapidly before use.

2. Notes

- This medium is a modification of Vera for clinical use, capable of culturing a wide range of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. This medium is also used for blood culture. Do not store positive samples in the medium, as they may be destroyed by dextrose-fermenting bacteria growing on the dextrose in the medium.

- Trichomonas vaginalis can also be cultured by adding 10% serum to the medium.
