Product detail
Master Mix Solution | Takyon® Ultra Probe 4X qPCR MasterMix
Takyon® Ultra Probe 4X qPCR MasterMix from Eurogentec is a high-performance reagent designed for sensitive and specific DNA detection, delivering reliable and reproducible results in real-time PCR applications.
Featuring a concentrated 4X formulation, this Master Mix allows a larger sample input volume compared with conventional 2X or 1X formulations when using the same final reaction volume. This makes it a suitable choice for assays requiring increased DNA input, particularly when analyzing samples containing low levels of target DNA.

2. Applications
Takyon® Ultra Probe 4X qPCR MasterMix is designed for fluorescent probe-based qPCR and supports a wide range of molecular biology applications, including:
- Detection and quantification of target DNA by real-time PCR.
- Microbial detection in food, water, and environmental samples.
- Analysis of samples containing low levels of target DNA.
- Multiplex qPCR for simultaneous detection of multiple targets in a single reaction.
- Molecular assay development and optimization.
- Research and testing applications requiring high sensitivity, specificity, and reproducibility.
3. Principle of Operation
Takyon® Ultra Probe 4X qPCR MasterMix combines real-time PCR amplification with sequence-specific fluorescent probes.
During amplification, DNA polymerase catalyzes the synthesis of target DNA. For hydrolysis probes such as TaqMan® probes, the polymerase's 5′–3′ exonuclease activity cleaves the probe during extension, separating the fluorescent reporter from the quencher. The resulting increase in fluorescence is monitored by the qPCR instrument and used to detect or quantify the target DNA.
The concentrated 4X formulation reduces the proportion of Master Mix in the final reaction volume, allowing greater flexibility in sample input volume when required. The formulation is also designed to improve tolerance to common PCR inhibitors and support multiplex qPCR applications.
4. Key Benefits
- Concentrated 4X formulation: Provides greater flexibility in reaction setup and sample input optimization.
- High sensitivity: Supports the detection of low-abundance DNA targets.
- Improved PCR inhibitor tolerance: Supports amplification in challenging sample matrices containing common PCR inhibitors.
- Multiplex qPCR capability: Enables simultaneous detection of multiple targets in a single reaction.
- Compatibility with multiple qPCR platforms: A separate ROX™ Passive Reference tube is provided for instruments requiring ROX.
- Suitable for automated workflows: Supports high-throughput reaction setup. The working mixture can remain stable for more than 24 hours at 20°C, according to the manufacturer's information.
5. Important Notes
Takyon® Ultra Probe 4X qPCR MasterMix is designed for DNA-based qPCR and is not an integrated One-Step RT-qPCR reagent for direct RNA analysis. RNA targets require a reverse transcription step or a suitable One-Step RT-qPCR formulation.
This product is not described as an UNG-integrated Master Mix for carryover contamination prevention. If amplicon carryover control is required, an appropriate contamination-prevention solution should be selected for the assay workflow.
