RIDASCREEN® Sulfonamide Elisa test kit

General information

Sulfonamides are widely used as feed additives, mainly for fattening calves and pigs. In combination with dihydrofolate reductase inhibitors such as trimethoprim, tetroxoprim or pyrimethamine, sulfonamides are also used in veterinary medicine to treat intestinal infections, mastitis, pneumonia and other diseases. Sulfonamide residues can therefore occur in foods of animal origin such as meat and milk. In particular, the administration of the carcinogenic sulfamethazine represents a threat to human health. The EU has established a maximum residue limit (MRL) of 100 g / kg (ppb) for all substances of the sulfonamide group in muscle, fat, liver, kidney and milk.

Sample preparation:
milk: after dilution 1:5 use directly; meat tested (chicken and pork), eggs, fish, shrimp: homogenise, extract, centrifuge, evaporate and defat
honey: extract, clean up and dilute on a RIDA® C18 column.
