1. Intended use

RIDASCREEN®FAST Vitamin B12 (order code R2103) is a competitive immunoassay for the quantitative determination of vitamin B12 in milk, milk powder, food for special medical purposes, cereals and breakfast cereals, fortified powders, vitamin powders, blends, tablets and vitamin juices.

2. General information

- Vitamin B12 belongs to the group of water-soluble vitamins. The human body cannot produce this vitamin itself and it must therefore be supplied through the diet.

- Vitamin B12 is required only at low concentrations, yet it plays an important role for the nervous system, has a protective effect on the heart and is important in nucleotide synthesis, iron absorption and amino acid metabolism. A vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to anaemia and neurological defects.
