Rapid test kit for cow's milk in milk and cheese | RIDA®QUICK CIS

1. Intended use

RIDA®QUICK CIS (product code R4303) is a lateral flow immunochromatographic test kit for the detection of cow's milk in the milk or cheese of other species (sheep and goat).

2. General information

- Sheep's milk and goat's milk are much more expensive than cow's milk and are often used to stretch sheep's and goat's milk. This means the product is adulterated under EU law. The RIDA®QUICK CIS test is able to detect adulteration or blending of up to 0.5%. A positive result indicates that the sample contains 0.5% or more cow's milk.

- The basis of the test is an antigen-antibody reaction. The presence of cow's milk in the sample is determined by detecting bovine IgG (an antibody class), which is a natural component of cow's milk. In products that have been heated very strongly, the antibodies are denatured. It is therefore not possible to detect blending with cow's milk using the RIDA®QUICK CIS test in these products.
