1. Intended use

RIDASCREEN®FAST Ochratoxin A (product code R5402) is a competitive enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative analysis of ochratoxin A residues in maize, wheat, barley, oats (cereals) and animal feed.

2. General information

- The mycotoxin ochratoxin A is formed by fungi of the Aspergillus and Penicillium genera. Besides its pronounced kidney toxicity, ochratoxin A also shows liver-toxic, teratogenic, carcinogenic and immunosuppressive properties. There is a risk to human health not only from eating contaminated foods of plant origin but also from foods of animal origin

- Ochratoxin A has been detected in pig blood and kidneys, as well as in human blood and breast milk.
