Microbiology culture medium Gifu Anaerobic Medium Agar | GAM Agar 05420

- The microbiology culture medium GAM Agar (Gifu Anaerobic Medium Agar) was developed by Gifu University School of Medicine (Japan) for the isolation and cultivation of anaerobic bacteria from clinical samples.

- GAM Agar can also be used for antibiotic susceptibility testing (except for the antibiotic sulphonamide).

1. Preparation

- Add 74 g of the dry medium to 1,000 mL of distilled water and heat to dissolve the medium. Sterilise by autoclaving at 115 °C for 15 minutes.

- Distribute 20 mL of medium into each Petri dish. Freshly prepared medium should be used within one day or kept under anaerobic conditions.

2. Notes

This medium was developed by Gifu University School of Medicine (Japan) for the isolation and cultivation of anaerobic bacteria from clinical samples. This medium can also be used for antibiotic susceptibility tests other than sulfa drugs.
