- The microbiology culture medium Eagle's MEM 2 promotes the growth of mammalian cells such as HeLa (HeLa is an immortal cell line used in scientific research. It is the oldest and most commonly used human cell line).

- Eagle's MEM 2 in 100 g powder form can be reconstituted into up to 10 litres of liquid medium.

1. Preparation

- Dissolve 9.4 g of the medium in distilled water and adjust the volume to 1 litre. Sterilise the medium by autoclaving at 121 °C for 15 minutes, then cool to room temperature. Add sterile 10% sodium bicarbonate solution to reach pH 7.1–7.4 at 37 °C in a 5% CO2 atmosphere.

- The mixture must be tightly closed and stored in a cool, dark place. At the time of use, add 0.292 g of L-glutamine (sterilised) and an appropriate amount of sterile serum.

3. Storage and shelf life

Close the cap tightly and store at 2-5 °C in a dry, dark place. It can be stored for up to one year.

4. Precautions

- Do not use the product after the expiry date. Product quality is not warranted after the expiry date. If the medium or reagents come into direct contact with the eyes or mouth, rinse immediately with plenty of water and consult a doctor.

- Any medium, reagent or material must be decontaminated by autoclaving or boiling in water after use, then disposed of as industrial waste in accordance with local laws and regulations.
