1. Intended use

The macadamia nut allergy rapid test kit (product code BLH705-15) with the integrated hook line from bioavid is an immunochromatographic assay for the sensitive and qualitative detection of macadamia nut residues on surfaces (for example swab testing for hygiene control in food production lines), in cleaning and water treatment (CIP water) and in food samples. The integrated hook line helps prevent false-negative interpretation of high-positive samples.

2. General information

- Macadamia nuts contaminating food can cause hypersensitivity in sensitive people. Food production lines must be free of residues to prevent these allergic reactions. The effectiveness of cleaning can be verified by using a swab to wipe surfaces in order to detect contaminating macadamia nut residues.

- The surface swab test is an easy-to-use method and provides fast and reliable analytical results. Our bioavid swabs are simple to use and can be handled by untrained personnel. - Highly coloured or acidic/alkaline solutions must be extracted with absorbent buffer (product code BS810-25). The buffer solution decolourises or neutralises the solutions in order to avoid false-positive results (for example strongly coloured fruit juices).

- For the analysis of non-validated samples, the document “Solid sample testing verification SOP” (standard operating procedure) and the detailed instructions for use can be used.
