1. Intended use
- The immunoaffinity column for Vitamin B12 analysis (product code RBRP88) is used in combination with HPLC or LC-MS/MS systems to detect vitamin B12 in a wide range of commodities.
- The new immunoaffinity column with an integrated reservoir for detecting vitamin B12 in a wide range of commodities was developed in collaboration with the Nestlé Research Centre, Switzerland.
2. General information
- This procedure is based on monoclonal antibody technology, which gives the test high specificity, sensitivity and speed and makes it easy to perform. The columns contain a gel suspension of monoclonal antibodies specific to the vitamin of interest.
- After the vitamin is extracted, the sample extract is diluted with buffer and filtered before being slowly passed through the immunoaffinity column. Any vitamin present in the sample is retained by the antibodies in the gel suspension. The column is washed to remove any unbound material and the vitamin is then released from the column after elution with solvent. The eluate is collected, evaporated and reconstituted before analysis by HPLC or LC-MS/MS.
