1. Intended use
The multi-mycotoxin immunoaffinity column AFLAOCHRA PREP® is used to detect the toxins aflatoxin B1, B2, G1, G2 and ochratoxin A simultaneously in a wide range of commodities. The column is analysed on an HPLC or LC-MS/MS instrument.
2. General information
- This procedure is based on monoclonal antibody technology, which gives the test high specificity, sensitivity, speed and ease of use. Improved clean-up and concentration of the toxin from complex food sample matrices reduce chromatographic interference and lower the detection limit. The columns contain a gel suspension of monoclonal antibodies specific to the toxins of interest. After the toxins have been extracted, the sample extract is filtered, diluted and passed slowly through the immunoaffinity column.
- Any toxin present in the sample is retained by the antibodies in the gel suspension. The column is washed to remove unbound material and the toxins are then released from the column after elution with solvent. The eluate is collected and injected before analysis by HPLC or LC-MS/MS. Aflatoxin must be derivatised when it is analysed by HPLC.
