Gliadin allergy rapid test kit | RIDA®QUICK Gliadin R7003

1. Intended use

RIDA®QUICK Gliadin (product code R7003) can be used as a rapid test to detect gluten on surfaces in hygiene control, in cleaning water and for the qualitative detection of gliadin / gluten in raw materials and finished products. The test was developed to detect low amounts of (contaminating) gluten. No high-dose hook effect was observed at high concentrations.

2. General information

- The use of wheat flour and gluten in food is extremely common because of their useful effects on texture, moisture retention and flavour. Gluten is a mixture of the proteins prolamin and glutelin found in wheat, rye and barley. Coeliac disease is a permanent gluten intolerance that leads to damage of the small intestine and can recover when gluten is avoided through diet.

- The official Type I method for the determination of gluten according to the Codex Alimentarius is an ELISA using the R5 antibody (Mendez). This requirement is met by the RIDASCREEN® Gliadin test (R7001). The RIDA®QUICK Gliadin test strip also uses the R5 antibody and shows good correlation with the official method, R5-ELISA RIDASCREEN® Gliadin. R-Biopharm AG is the only company authorised to use the R5 antibody for test strips.

3. Method approvals

- Surfaces and in clean-in-place water: the RIDA®QUICK Gliadin test strip has been approved by the AOAC SM Performance Tested Methods programme and the AOAC Research Institute awarded PTM Certification No. 101702 . The internal validation data were confirmed by an independent laboratory and demonstrate that the dipstick can be used to detect traces of gliadin on surfaces (stainless steel, sealed ceramic, plastic and silicone rubber) and in clean-in-place water.- Food samples: the RIDA®QUICK Gliadin test kit was also evaluated by 18 laboratories in an international collaborative study on food samples. The immunochromatographic assay is an AACC internationally approved method (38-60.01) and an AOAC approved Official Method of Analysis (Final Action OMA 2015.16).
