1. Intended use

RIDASCREEN®FAST DON is a competitive enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative analysis of DON residues in cereals, malt and animal feed.

2. General information

- Deoxynivalenol belongs to the trichothecene group of mycotoxins and is produced by fungi of the genus Fusarium. Deoxynivalenol commonly occurs in plant products, especially cereals. More than 150 trichothecenes are known and the mycotoxins deoxynivalenol, 3-acetyl- and 15-acetyl-deoxynivalenol are the toxins that occur most frequently in Europe and North America

- Toxin concentrations found in wheat, maize or rice are usually in the mg/kg (ppm) range. Because of their highly cytotoxic and immunosuppressive properties, these toxins are hazardous.
