Intended Use

SureFood® PREP Basic is intended for the extraction of animal and plant DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) from raw materials, as well as slightly processed food and feed.

It is also recommended for the extraction of animal DNA from highly processed food and feed.

General Information

SureFood® PREP Basic uses a DNA extraction procedure based on spin-filter technology. The process consists of the following steps:

Preparation of the basic material: Prepare the material for DNA extraction.
Lysis of the basic material: Disrupt the sample matrix to release nucleic acids.
Pre-filtration and setting of optimal binding conditions: Remove unwanted sample components and establish suitable binding conditions.
Binding of nucleic acids on a Spin Filter: Retain the nucleic acids on the spin filter.
Purification of the bound nucleic acids: Remove remaining unwanted components.
Drying of the Spin Filter: Remove residual washing solution.
Elution of nucleic acids from the Spin Filter: Recover the purified nucleic acids from the spin filter.

The extracted DNA can be used for subsequent analytical procedures, depending on the method and testing purpose.

SureFood® PREP Add-On (Art. No. S1055): An add-on kit for DNA extraction from samples with a sample weight of 2 g, used in conjunction with SureFood® PREP Basic.
