1. What is the AOAC PTM certificate?
- The AOAC Performance Tested Methods (PTM) certificate is a recognized standard that verifies product methods through comprehensive laboratory testing. This certificate ensures that the methods meet the highest standards.
- The 11+Myco MS-PREP® immunoaffinity column product from R-Biopharm Rhône, a unique multi-mycotoxin extraction method for analyzing a variety of mycotoxins in cereals, baby food, spices and feed, has been tested by LC-MS/MS and awarded the AOAC RI-112401 PTM certificate. Achieving AOAC PTM certification is an important milestone, giving customers confidence in the robustness and performance of the method.
2. Working towards achieving certification
- The journey of R-Biopharm Rhône towards the 11+Myco MS-PREP® PTM method approval began years ago, with a plan to develop a comprehensive analytical method capable of addressing the challenges analysts face when quantifying multiple analytes in multiple matrices with just a single extraction method.
- The difficulty was developing a single extraction method to detect 11 mycotoxins, each with its own characteristics, while ensuring the method meets the mandatory regulatory specifications including LOQ (Limit of Quantification) across these variants. It was no small feat to find a single extraction solution capable of delivering acceptable recoveries for all the mycotoxins, especially in the presence of naturally occurring mycotoxins, which further complicates detection.
- Returning to the end of 2024, after many hours in the laboratory and collecting data, R-Biopharm Rhône overcame these challenges, and our method was published and received the AOAC certificate (AOAC RI-112401) for the determination of Aflatoxin, Fumonisin, Deoxynivalenol, Ochratoxin A, Zearalenone, HT-2 and T-2 toxins in cereals, baby food, spices and feed.
