Allergen testing documentation with the RIDA®SMART APP Allergen

Lateral flow (LFD) allergen rapid tests are a great tool for food allergen testing and allergen management: fast, easy to use, ideal for on-site testing or hygiene monitoring, and no measuring device needed. But how do you document the results? We have developed a small helper: an app you can install on any Android smartphone to save and record your results, and that also lets you send or share this data online – RIDA®SMART APP Allergen.

- It is often said, "Every little thing helps." The allergen RIDA®SMART app ALLERGEN is your little helper for documenting food allergen test results from lateral flow allergen rapid test kits.

- Even a small amount of a food allergen can pose a serious risk to consumers with a food allergy. Preventing unintentional cross-contamination with food allergens is therefore essential, and an allergen monitoring procedure is needed. The lateral flow allergen rapid test is used to ensure the quality of the entire food production process. Incoming raw materials can be tested quickly, the production line can be checked before production or after cleaning, and CIP water can also be tested. Lateral flow testing can also be very helpful in finding out where cross-contamination occurs.

- The ease of performing the test without laboratory equipment or a measuring device has made LFD tests a popular tool for on-site testing. You simply observe whether the colored lines appear on the control line and the test line. Additional internal control measures such as the Hook Line effect help build confidence in the results, eliminating false negatives caused by excessively high concentrations. However, reading the result without a measuring device makes documentation difficult. In addition, the color intensity of the lines can change over time.

- That is why we have developed an app that can be installed on any Android smartphone. It is designed specifically for the Bioavid and RIDA®QUICK allergen rapid test kits. Perform the test according to the instructions and use the RIDA®SMART APP Allergen to photograph the result. The measured results are now stored in the app, and you can add information about the sample, the test used, and the user or location tested, ensuring accurate documentation. The results can be uploaded to your quality control system or sent from the production site to the laboratory.
