3. Standardisation and safety
The working area must be large enough and suitable for the desired number of people in the laboratory. There must be a zone that visually separates the clean zone from the contaminated zone. There must be sample storage space, a weighing room,,...
- Laboratory interior and equipment design must be able to accommodate future changes.
- Establish emergency exits, safety warnings and a set of rules ensuring occupational safety,...
- The area for handling polluting substances and experiments is equally important.

- Experiments may only be carried out in the presence of at least 2 people.
- Read the instructions and warnings carefully before entering the laboratory
- Recognise the signs and warnings in the laboratory
- Wear full protective equipment.
- Keep the laboratory clean and hygienic to avoid cross-contamination or skewed results.
- Do not eat or drink in the laboratory.
- If chemicals are spilled or an accident occurs, report it immediately to the laboratory supervisor or the HSE department
- Immediately wash skin/eyes on contact with hazardous chemicals.
- Dispose of laboratory waste in the designated places.
- If you are unsure about anything, just ask.
