– The conference was honored to welcome Vice Minister of Health Đỗ Xuân Tuyên; leaders of the Departments, General Departments and Institutes under the Ministry of Health; the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of National Defense, and scientists from research institutes and universities; food safety laboratories, organizations and individuals working in the field of food safety. In particular, the conference was joined by international experts from the United States, Russia, China, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, Denmark, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and representatives of international organizations in Vietnam such as WHO, FAO, UNIDO, ILRI.
– In his opening remarks at the conference, Vice Minister of Health Đỗ Xuân Tuyên emphasized: "Vietnam is in a period of accelerating national industrialization and modernization; the role of science and technology in general and of food testing science in particular is one of the tasks that the authorities and sectors pay special attention to. The 2024 International Scientific Conference on Food Testing is an opportunity for domestic scientists, managers and researchers to gain access to the food management approach that is widely applied worldwide today: risk-based management. The conference is also a chance for scientists, managers, and food producers and traders to meet, exchange views, connect and learn from experience, to build a roadmap for scientific research cooperation on advanced food safety testing techniques from other countries and to share information on new achievements in testing science as a basis for orienting the development of Vietnam's food testing system."

– After the Vice Minister's remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lê Thị Hồng Hảo, Director of the National Institute of Food Safety and Hygiene Testing, on behalf of the Institute's leadership, sincerely thanked Vice Minister Đỗ Xuân Tuyên, managers, scientists, domestic and international experts, and all distinguished guests and delegates who attended the conference. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lê Thị Hồng Hảo also shared: "In recent years, Vietnam's food testing system has received investment from multiple funding sources, which has significantly changed the landscape of the food testing industry. However, the reality of recent food safety incidents shows that hazards are still present in food products consumed daily. Therefore, in addition to investing in the development of modern, advanced testing techniques, testing laboratories need to step up risk assessment activities in order to provide scientific evidence that supports food safety management work."

Prof. Dr. Lê Thị Hồng Hảo was also pleased to announce to the whole conference the establishment of the Food Safety Risk Assessment Center under the National Institute of Food Safety and Hygiene Testing, pursuant to Decision No. 1936/QĐ-BYT of the Ministry of Health dated 8/7/2024. The Associate Professor further shared: "This is the first risk assessment center under Vietnam's Ministry of Health to carry out food safety risk assessment tasks, helping to provide scientific evidence for the management authority, from which to propose effective risk management and risk communication solutions, contributing to improving the national food safety system, helping to reduce food poisoning and food-borne diseases, and promoting the development of domestic and export food trade."

– One of the highlights of the 2024 conference was the participation of 42 young scientists from Vietnam and abroad with poster presentations. The large attendance of young scientists partly confirms the interest of the younger generation in food safety issues, as well as the development potential and bright future of the food testing field in Vietnam and worldwide. The organizing board awarded certificates to outstanding posters that won first, second and third prizes, and encouragement awards.
